Dazza's Daffodil Day Walk 2020

By Dazza

A huge Thankyou to everyone

Well my Daffodil Day Walk for Cancer Council WA to raise much needed funds for Life-Saving cancer research here in WA was a huge success and feeling very proud to have completed the 44kms and raising a huge amount, $11,650 in the process to help the cause.
The day was perfect weather and was very enjoyable walk in good time meeting up with my late mate Steve's family, my family, friends and Cancer Council staff at Catalano's where we continued to walk to the Bell Tower and met up with more Cancer Council staff, Ashley (Cancer Council WA CEO) and supporters.
We then walked through the city in all our yellow glory selling fresh daffodils along the way stopping for breaks at Yagan's Square, Murray Street Mall before I headed off back to Catalano's with support.
On arriving at Catalano's I thanked the girls for their support and they handed the baton over so to speak to my brother in law, Gary who walked the rest of the way with me back home to Forrestfield.
All up I spent 11 hours from home to home, 9 hours of walking and felt so proud to have accomplished my mission for Daffodil Day 2020.
I would like to say a huge thankyou to everyone who was able to donate in helping me reach a tremendous amount and also to the businesses who sponsored me, Cooling Brothers Glass, RJ & SW Brown, Winter Real Estate, JKF Plumbing & Gas, Tilt Trans WA, The Boab Tavern, Virtual Runner & Catalano's Cafe, very much appreciated.
Also thankyou to to everyone who helped and supported me all the way, my loving wife, daughters & their partners and family and to Steve's wife, Trish and family and brother, Michael, it was an honour to walk in memory of Steve.
A big thankyou to Pausha from Cancer Council WA for all her help to get this event up and running, couldnt have done it without your help, Danielle & Jane for getting it out into the media and of course all the other Cancer Council staff,  very much appreciated.
Love to you all, stay safe and take care.
Cheers Dazza

One Week To Go

Hi everyone,
Its now just one week to go until Daffodil Day and of course my Dazza's Daffodil Day Walk which I will be dedicating in memory to my dearest mate, Steve Blasdale.
I would just like to say a huge thankyou to everyone who has donated to this great cause and supporting me in raising awareness and funds for Cancer Council WA to help with life saving cancer research, hopefully one day we will find a cure for this horrible disease that affects so many people in so many ways, whether its the people suffering or the family and friends supporting cancer suffers.
Once again if anyone would like to join me on my walk, I will be meeting people at Catalano's Cafe on Albany Hwy in Victoria Park at approx 9.30am and then continuing on to the Bell Tower where we will be meeting more people at approx 10.30-10.45 then continuing on around Perth CBD to Murray Street Mall.
If you would like to join in please wear something yellow, I look forward to seeing you on Daffodil Day.
Please share with all your friends and family and spread the word.
A huge thankyou once again.

Join the Walk!

If you are interested in joining the walk on Friday, 28 August 2020, be sure to dress in yellow, some comfy shoes and meet me at one of the following locations:

~9.30am - Catalano's Cafe, Victoria Park
~10.45am - The Bell Tower, Perth City

Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you there!

Fundraising going nicely, Thankyou

Hi everyone, well its just over a week now since we launched Dazza's Daffodil Day Walk fundraiser page and I must say I am amazed by the support and kind donations so far in just this short time, just under $2,000.
We have secured a cafe in Victoria Park for the meet up point for those wanting to join in on the walk into Perth CBD.  Catalanos Cafe has done up a special for those wanting to meet a little earlier prior to me arriving approx 9.30am.  Joe has offered a breakfast deal of an omelette or eggs and bacon or pancakes served with either a juice or tea or coffee for $13 per person, thanks heaps for your support Joe.
I have a few of my local businesses that I deliver to in High Wycombe also jump onboard and support me with a kind donation of support, so big thanks to RJ &SW Brown Haulage, The Boab Tavern, Tilt Trans WA and Winter Real Estate, very much appreciated.
If anyone knows of any businesses out there that may wish to support me, let me know and if they make a donation of support I will add their business logo to my flyer and onto the vest I will be wearing on the day.
So to finish off my first blog, a huge thankyou to everyone who has made a donation, very much appreciated, your help will go a long way.
Take care everyone and be safe.
Kindest regards
Dazza

I'm raising funds to make a difference in the lives of those living with cancer.

Due to COVID-19 happening this this year and there being no street appeal for Daffodil Day I have decided to create my own event this year, "Dazza's Daffodil Day Walk" on Friday 28th August 2020 in memory of my best and dearest mate, Steve Blasdale.

I first volunteered for Daffodil Day after Steve was diagnosed with terminal stomach and liver cancer in 2017 and was given only three weeks to live and I saw the call out for volunteers "For Someone I Know". Steve defied the odds, like the true multiple Ironman that he was, and fought hard, but sadly lost his battle in 2018.

I have decided to put on my iconic yellow suit that I wear every Daffodil Day and be walking to raise awareness and much needed funds from my home in Forrestfield, during peak hour, taking the busy route into Perth CBD, where I will spend some time in the city before continuing back to Forrestfield over the Narrows Bridge through South Perth and taking the same route home, approx 44 kms.

For more info, email me at dazzasdaffodildaywalk@gmail.com for details.

I'm pledging to get involved in Daffodil Day this August to be the difference.  Join me in raising funds to continue life-saving cancer research to improve diagnosis, detection and treatment.

Thanking you kindly in advance and appreciate you taking the time to support me in my event for such a great cause.

Kindest regards

Daryl Walton
