Caroline Bernardi received the devasting news in December 2008 that she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Told that her cancer was inoperable but treatable, she was told her chance of surviving was only about 5%.
After three rounds of chemotherapy, Caroline had a CT scan that showed the tumours had stayed the same. In early 2009, Caroline was granted the opportunity to be part of a clinical trial drug for 8 long weeks in which during her treatment, she also took care of her nutrition and spent time exercising, meditating and receiving acupuncture. Once finishing the trial, her CT scan showed no evidence of cancer.
Caroline has been cancer free since April 2009 and now spends her days differently than she did before her diagnosis as she does not take ‘normal’ aspects of life for granted.
