Aspendale Otters

Our final day has arrived!

We finished our 31-day challenge with an afternoon dip in absolutely glorious conditions. The Bay was beautiful, making it the perfect way to finish our incredible month of swimming, friendship, laughter and fundraising.  

Afterwards, we headed to Tommy Ruff in Mordialloc to celebrate what we've achieved together,

A gloomy morning for Day 30, but the grey skies certainly didn't dampen our spirits!

The Otters were back in the Bay, having fun and putting on a little entertainment for the locals as we continue our mission to raise vital funds for cancer research.

Day 29 and we decided to surprise everyone with bubble wands! Because who says cold water swimming can't be fun?

We also had the pleasure of meeting some like-minded cold-water swimmers, 'The Drifters', who joined us for a dip. It's always wonderful meeting people who share our love of the Bay, cold water and a bit of fun!

And now we're SO CLOSE to reaching our new $10,000 fundraising goal!

Day 28 was all about lots of fun and plenty of laughter, whilst raising funds for Cancer research.

There were back somersaults, front somersaults and probably a few moves that definitely wouldn't make it into an Olympic routine!

We also paid tribute to the wonderful Tim Curry with some dancing and very off-key singing to THE TIME WARP!

Sometimes it's the simple things that make these mornings so special.

Everyday, the Bay shows us a different side of its beauty - the changing skies, the colours, the calm, the waves and the little surprises along the way.

Today's special moment was watching a pelican fly gracefully past us.

A slightly wavy and cool start to Day 26, but then the morning put on the most magnificent sunrise!

And what better way to enjoy it than singing some Dolly Parton songs... completely out of key, of course! A little tribute, a lot of laughter and absolutely no auditions coming our way anytime soon!

To top it off, we were back having fun with the bubble wand! Because apparently, you're never too old for bubbles!

A dreary, raining morning for Day 25, but the Bay had a very special surprise waiting for us ..... DOLPHINS!

Suddenly everyone was pointing and getting very excited waiting for the next sighting and trying to spot where they would pop up next!

Today's dip was an afternoon swim, and there was no better way to replenish the batteries than spending time in the Bay with fellow Otters.

We love weekends because it means we can spend a little more time at our happy place.

No rushing off afterwards, just time to enjoy the Bay, have a laugh and make the most of being together.

Today we added a little extra fun with our bubble wand! Who says cold water dipping has o be serious?

Day 22 certainly gave us a little bit of everything! It started with a  sprinkling of rain, then the sun came out and gave us the perfect excuse to have some fun creating photos and videos.

And just when we thought the morning couldn't get any better, it ended with a beautiful rainbow over the Bay!

Oops, we slept in !

Well..... it happens to the best of us!Accidently slept in this morning, but luckily we still got to catch up with the Otters later.

No matter what time we get there, it's always fun when we're together - plenty of laughs, friendship and, of course, a dip in our beautiful Bay.

It's officially here - DAFFODIL DAY - 40 Years in the making.

Today we dressed back in yellow to support such a worthy cause. It was such a fund morning  sharing the Bay, plenty of laughs and showing our love of cold water to the locals, which put a smile on their faces.

Another beautiful morning in the Bay before the weather changed. We made most of the calm, peaceful conditions and enjoyed another chilly dip together.

TOMORROW IS THE OFFICIAL DAFFODIL DIP!

After 19 days of dipping, friendship, laughing and sharing the cold, we're are so proud of what we have achieved.

What a morning! The Bay really put on a show for us today - beautiful, calm and absolutely magical.

We had some extra Otters and a few locals join us this morning to share in the beauty of the Bay, the chilly water and, of course, the laughs and friendship that make these mornings so special.

Day 17 and today the Otters had to swim at different times, so our group headed down to the Bay for an evening dip. What an experience it was!

The evening light, the calmness of the Bay and being surrounded by our Otter family made it feel truly magical.

We arrived to find a foggy morning for Day 16, but it gave us time to reflect on what an incredible day it was yesterday and just how many wonderful people came together to make it happen.

What a day! Today we came together, with the incredible support of our family, friends and fellow dippers, we made the spiral happen.

A massive THANK YOU to every person who dipped, supported, donated, cheered us on and helped make the day so memorable.

The cold, the laughs, the friendships and the challenge have all been worth it. And looking back at that incredible spiral ..... WOW! We actually did it!

Wow, what a day we had. Morning dip to appreciate the beauty of the bay, whilst having fun with the otters. Catching up it the afternoon to be interviewed about tomorrow's event on the ABC - Afternoon review. Then later in the day to set up at the Aspendale Life Saving club. A calmer morning to reflect life and friendships, lots of laughs were had by all. Only 2 days to go before the big event.

The weekdays are always fun, sharing the dips in the dark with fellow Otters, it keeps your mind of the cold. We are only guided by the light of the moon, if it is around, until the breaking of dawn.

It was a lovely fun afternoon for Dip 10, wow only 5 more days before our main event. Hopefully we will see plenty of people down on Saturday 15th August to make the biggest spiral in Port Phillip Bay. If you can come be at Aspendale Life Saving Club at 7:45 for an 8:00am Dip.

The otters managed to dip between the rain bands, which gave us the chance to have fun in the water.

The beauty of the morning took our breath away, the laughter kept the chills away. Overall a perfect morning shared with friends, whilst we raise funds for a worthy cause 

A nice, relaxing morning dip with the reward of seeing the colours of the sky. Moments like these remind us why we love coming together each morning -  not just for the swim, but the friendship, fresh air, and the chance to support such an important cause

The Aspendale otters had to dip at different times, but every one of us entered with the same goal - to support Daffodil Day and help make a difference for those affected with cancer.

Dark, rainy and wild weather didn't dampen our morning challenge.  As the genuine fun and laughter had by all, kept us going even throughout the day. 

A cold and dark morning, but laughs are still keeping us enjoying the cold embrace of the water.

A quick dip was all we could do today, but the wind and waves did not deter our dedication to raising funds

It truly is amazing to share this experience with friends, the beauty of the sunrise distracted from the cold crisp water.

What an amazing morning to start the fundraising for daffodil day, with a crisp and stunning sunrise.
