Daffodil Day Dip

In August, I’ll be plunging into cold water for the almost 1 in 2 Australians who will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85.

Please donate to my challenge!

The funds I raise from my Daffodil Day Dip challenge will help power world-class cancer research to save lives.

Your support means so much to me. Cancer has impacted my family in big ways. 3 relatives lost to breast, bowel and lung cancer. (Despite not smoking, eating well and living healthy lifestyles).  3 of us have survived breast cancer. And 1 is dealing with stage 4 lung cancer as I type. Cancer doesn’t discriminate. Please help create a cancer free future by donating to my fundraiser now! 💛

Cutest dip buddy

Couldn’t get to a river/lake/sea so we fought the heat in the back garden and were thankful for the cold water!!

Wednesday 19th Aug

Birling Gap Family Swim

It was pretty special to get a dip in with the fam bam. Inspiration for the challenge is all the relatives lost or touched by cancer. Really special to spend time with my sis, brother-in-law , Mark, Immy & Nick.

Sneaky peak from Pells

No photos allowed, but took the plunge with Rach & Immy.

Dipping the Llans

North Wales is proving a treat. Yesterday we headed to the seaside on a family outing. We arrived in Llandudno to find the tide was out. But undeterred, daffodil hat was pulled over my ears and I waded into one of the channels that was just deep enough for a swim. Llandudno is such a pretty seaside town, connected (slightly tenuously) to Alice in Wonderland and serves excellent lunches. Good day was had!

Today we went to Horseshoe Falls at Llangollen. The steam railway (another tenuous source of literary inspiration as Ivor the Engine trundled around picturesque North Wales) came up trumps and served up a passing steam train as I was immersed in the river and trying not to get entangled in the rapids. The water was cold but utterly glorious.

Dip #3 Done

Rather than get in the local river and contend with green-blue algae, I opted for the local pool. Finally got a swim done, so Coach Helen should be proud. (Maybe just relieved that I’ve actually stuck to the plan…). Either heading to the coast or a swimming lake tomorrow, so already excited!

Sunday 2nd Aug

Dip 2 Done

It was colder and wilder today. But the deed is done. We’ve got 20+ hours sitting on a plane ahead of us (all being well) so some pre-flight cold therapy was nice!

Sunday 2nd Aug

Dip #1 Done

The water is cold in Adelaide, but I went in and recorded the experience so everyone can enjoy it with me.

Wednesday 15th Jul

Would you drive 150km for a quick swim?

After my experience leaping into the Spencer Gulf I decided I wanted a heated option. But the nearest pool is 75km away, so it was a bit of a road trip!! 🤪

Wednesday 8th Jul

First Dip Done!

That was cold! Jumped in the Spencer Gulf after work (which is a tad colder than last time I got in about 4 months ago)! 🤣
