Daffodil Day Dip

In August, I’ll be plunging into cold water to honour those who have suffered.

Please donate to my challenge!

The funds I raise from my Daffodil Day Dip challenge will help power world-class cancer research to save lives.

As someone who feels the cold, always wears layers and is often found next to the heater or fire I will find this challenging, but I am committed and up for the challenge.

Your support means so much to me. Please help create a cancer free future by donating to my fundraiser now! 💛

Saturday dip at Silwood Avenue

This morning's dip was in company with Laraine, Cathy and Mandy at Silwood Avenue in about 12 kts of breeze. It wasn’t too bad entering from the shelter of the cliffs. The water temp was a chilly 11.7 which was warmer than last week and the air felt warm at 12 degrees.  We managed to stay in a bit longer and get dressed fairly efficiently. A great start to the day.

Wednesday 15th July

A cool and breezy dip that thankfully was offshore so there wasn't a big swell. Just enough to trigger a squeal as it rolled through.

Monday 13th Jul

Sandy Bay Swim

On Sunday I ventured over the Tasman Bridge to the other side of the river and met my sister Kathy at Sandy Bay for a swim. Compared to yesterday’s very cold water today was a balmy 12.3*C and I was able to stay in and swim. The sun was shining making it warm when we got out. A pair of oyster catchers came to visit and walked along the waters edge.

Dip with Joan and Cathy

On Friday I went for a dip with Joan and Cathy. Joan and I donned our daffodil day caps and I tested out the duck thermometer. It was a very chilly 10.5 degrees.

Friday 19th Jun

Morning swim before the sun was up.

The morning was cool but the lack of wind and calm water made for an enjoyable dip. The sun was valiantly attempting to break through the clouds as we watched  the faint beginnings of a rainbow form. The sun struggled through as we were getting dressed with just enough oomph to bring some colour to the rainbow.

Thursday 18th Jun

Practise dip 4

Our mountain and beach glowing pink as the sun burst through the clouds.

Thursday 18th Jun

Practise dip number 4

An early start at 7:45 and lucky to witness a ray of sun break through turning the mountain and beach pink. Great photo captured by one of our dipper members of the Bellerive Bandits.

Sunday 14th Jun

Practise dip number 3

Today was my coldest swim. The water  at Bellerive Beach was a cool 12.5 C. The sand is noticeably cold to stand on. Think I’ll need to start wearing my reef shoes.

Sunday 14th Jun

Practise dip number 3

This morning was noticeably colder. Not pins sticking into your skin cold but enough to have to focus on controlled breathing.  Water temperature at Bellerive Beach 12.5°C

Saturday 13th Jun

Saturday morning swim

Morning dip at Bellerive beach. The strong northerly meant the air temperature was warm but it still stripped the temperature from you once out. It was lovely to enter still calm water in the offshore breeze and be able to swim. Then home for my second breakfast and hot chocolate.

Tuesday 9th Jun

Practise Dip

Afternoon Dip at Howrah Beach just catching the last of a beautiful Winter's Day sunshine.
