Ready, set, plunge!

Hey, everyone!

During  August, I’m taking the plunge—not just into the water, but into a mission close to my heart.

After losing my dad to lung cancer just this past June, I want to honour his big spirit by raising funds for cancer research & support.

You might be wondering, “Why plunging?” Well, i have a fear of cold water.. always have. I want to enjoy the water as much as my dad did.

Also, it’s a grounding & refreshing way to bring people together for a cause.

Whether you want to take the plunge with me or cheer from the sidelines, every bit of support counts.

& if you’re feeling extra brave & bold (like me in a see through Etsy disaster one piece),

I’d love to see you in your brightest yellow get-up.It’s  not mandatory, but let’s make a splash with some colour &  personality.

I’m inviting all of you to join me (& my Dogs & any other Gypsea Tails client) in this crazy but important winter adventure!

Feel free to send me a DM if you want to join the fun!

Spread the Word! (Let’s go viral 😂).

Together (while having heaps of fun) we can make a difference!

Let’s honour those we’ve lost, support those currently fighting, & push for a world where cancer is no longer a threat.

Plunge 10 Complete

We did it... (thanks to the motivation from our support crew) because if it would've been up to us I don't think we would have made it down to the beach - big week, big excuses.. etc etc

My reason for joining the @cancercouncilwa plunging challenge was so I could involve my family & friends in a fun (but bloody icy) challenge that raised money for people with cancer.

Win win.. right?

Not quite. (The chaos is very real).

But hey we're committed to finishing the plunging challenge & are still raising money (link in bio).

As some of you may know,

I lost my Dad to lung cancer in June.

Watching someone's life slip away before your eyes is confronting. I had only recently reconnected with him, after his cancer diagnosis. But I'm proud of our final months together because he saw that I loved my life in a way that makes me feel proud & he FINALLY (after 38 years) told me how proud he was of me.

I don't hold resentment for the Dad he was.

People can only meet you as deeply as they've met themselves. For someone who had bipolar, but never once spoke to me or anyone for that matter about his condition, because they didn't believe in "labels". I find that sad. Im the labelling queen!

Most people haven't gone to therapy & haven't looked at their own issues, they don't want to.

He never did.

I have accepted that my parents were less than I deserve.. They did the best they could with the resources & life experiences they had.

EVERYONE(even me) deserves to feel seen, supported & loved, particularly by their family.

BUT the sad reality is - most humans have never done the work to understand or improve themselves, heal their past, or manage their own emotions...

My dad never changed... (O)

I finally see my family exactly as they are for the first time in my life......

No words.

Friday 8th Aug

8th August - PLUNGE SIX = DONE!!!

This morning we had hoped to head out to plunge with our friends at the secret swing spot. But our plans fell through…

My daughter Savanna urged us to still go, but to maybe just go somewhere closer & easier to plunge. So we headed to The Weir..

This was my daughter’s first plunging experience & I could tell she wanted to go home as soon as she felt the water… with a little persuasion she was ready to jump off the bridge.

What a great way to start the day!

Friday 8th Aug

7th August - PLUNGE FIVE = DONE!!!

My first plunge at the beach….

We found a small section that allowed a quick plunge before the tide went out.. not the best spot, but at least my hubby got a surf in too.

I pinch myself with how beautiful our home town is. Never take it for granted!

Friday 8th Aug

Friday 20th Jun

Taking the Plunge for a Cause (Even If It’s Freezing!)

Let’s face it: we all know someone who’s been diagnosed with cancer, and sadly, not everyone gets to tell the tale. My dad passed away just a month shy of his 70th birthday from lung cancer. He was diagnosed earlier this year and, in a plot twist no one wanted, was gone within six months.

Watching the toll cancer takes is like witnessing a horror movie unfold in slow motion—definitely not the kind of drama anyone wants in their life!

I was lucky enough to spend two precious weeks with him in March, where we both used that precious time to forgive. Then, I got to hold his hand during his final days in May. It was both heart-wrenching and a beautiful reminder of the importance of family.

Now, here’s the kicker: those who know me well are aware that I absolutely, positively HATE COLD WATER. Seriously, I’d rather wrestle a polar bear than dip my toes in anything chilly. But this August, I’m diving into icy waters THREE days a week! I know, I know—what kind of madness is this?

Why am I doing this? To raise awareness & funds for cancer research, of course! If you’re feeling brave (or just want to see me overcome my fear of cold water), I invite you to join me in this frosty adventure.

So, who’s in? Let’s raise awareness & make a splash for a great cause!
