Cold Swim for Dad on Daffodil Day Fundraiser for Cancer.
Saturday 17th AugHey Legends!
I'm pledging to swim in some body of cold Victorian water this Daffodil day, August 22nd. 🌊💦🏊♀️❄️
I'm doing this for my darling Dad Richard, who died from cancer in June this year, less than 4 months from diagnosis.
Sadly, 1 in 2 of us Aussies will get some form of cancer in our lifetime and it's never fun or fair.
Many cancers are still being misdiagnosed or missed completely by medical professionals when patients are presenting and complaining of cancer symptoms.
It's not good enough.
We need access to early detection tests & screenings, particularly for the silent cancers that rob many young people of any treatment options and their future.
Fundraising makes a difference to families dealing with cancer and also enables critical research, respite, treatment options and HOPE for cancer sufferers and their loved ones supporting them.
We sadly only managed to squeeze in one round of treatment, but we we're so grateful for it and the support, respect, kindness and care we were shown from Peter Macallum Institute.
August 22nd is a good day to honor my Dad with a cold plunge, he couldn't tolerate cold Ocean water at all and I think he would be chuffed that I was doing this for him.
This date held significance for Dad, it was his Dad's birthday and also his wedding date. 💓
If you have a spare buck or two to fling towards cancer research, treatment and patient care, I will be so thankful. ✨
I'll even take swim location / duration requests from donaters, as long as I don't have to put my head under the Yarra.
