My Updates

Sunday 31st Aug

Day 31, dip 11

Last day. Went down to Port Beach this afternoon to log one final (extra) dip for Daffodil Day.So many people have been on my mind today. And how, in part, I'm the person I am because of them, and having lost them.

Saturday 30th Aug

Day 29, dip 10.1, 10.2, 10.3

No pics today but back to Alchemy Saunas for a triple sweat and swim.

Sad news this week. After I posted on Monday, I found out my neighbour of over 20 years has been diagnosed with brain cancer. We got an update today...the tumour can't safely be operated on and he is in palliative care, likely for only a matter of days.

Monday 25th Aug

Day 25, dip 9.1 and 9.2

Popped down to Alchemy Saunas, Port Beach, again today and braved the wild ocean for 2 dips between sauna sessions.

I've officially completed my pledged dips but will keep going at least until the end of the month.

Friday 22nd Aug

Day 22, dip 8.1, 8.2, 8.3

Popped down to Alchemy Saunas at Port Beach again today. Alternated saunas and dips, 3 of each.

Thursday 21st Aug

Day 21, dip 7

Official Daffodil Day today. On the forefront of my mind today is it's been 9 years and 2 days since we lost my beautiful mother-in-law, Chris. Her smile would light up a room and her warmth made me feel so welcome. I'm sad that Grace didnt get a chance to meet her. And I miss her. Always in our hearts 💕

Monday 18th Aug

Day 18, dip 6

Water was a bit hectic today (waves and current) so I didn't stay in long.Water temp 16.8⁰C...fingers crossed the upwards trend continues!

Reflecting today about the people I'm dipping in memory of - my mum, my aunty and my mother-in-law. As well as other close connections who have battled and lost or won.

Tuesday 12th Aug

Day 12, dip 5

Officially over half my dips completed! The weed was pretty bad today but I managed to find a small pocket down at Port Beach where the weed wasn't too thick. I did notice HEAPS of Blue Bottles (stinging jellyfish) all over the shore, so entered the water with caution (after watching a few other people swim without issue haha).Water was 16.6⁰ today, which surprises me...I thought it would have been firmly in the 17s.

Thursday 7th Aug

Day 7, dip 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3

Headed down to Alchemy saunas at Port Beach today for a bit of hot and cold. Did three 10-15 minute stints in the sauna, with 2 quick dips in between, and another 3 minute dip at the end.

16.4⁰C in the water today, 90⁰C in the sauna.

No pics at the beach or sauna today but my biceps and shoulders can confirm I did, indeed, experience significant temperature changes

Wednesday 6th Aug

Day 6, dip 3

Day 6, dip 3

Water still at 16.5⁰ today but at least the waves and swell were (mostly) pretty minimal. And the sun being out was also a bonus!

Clocked another 3 minutes in, but this time I didnt include the getting in and getting out...3 minutes of floating (with a couple of frantic stands to dive under waves).

The drawing was left by another Daffodil Day Dipper 😍

Monday 4th Aug

Day 4, dip 2

Water was coooollllllddd today - only 16.5 degrees, probably thanks to a big front that came through over the weekend. But with support of a couple of friends, I managed 3 minutes in the water!

Friday 1st Aug

Day 1, dip 1

Did my first ever Daffodil Day Dip for Cancer Council today!Port Beach, North FremantleWater temperature was 18.9 degrees.
