Freezing for a cause close to my heart
This August, I’m taking the plunge – quite literally – for a cause that means the world to me.
In memory of my beautiful daughter Lauren, I’ve signed up for the Daffodil Day Big Dip to support the Cancer Council. That means I’ve pledged to dip into freezing cold water 10 times throughout August – rain, hail or shine (though hopefully not hail!).
Lauren was just 17 when we lost her to brain cancer. She was brave, funny, kind, and so full of life. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of her, and I promised her I’d always do what I could to give back and help others walking the same heartbreaking path.
So this August, I’ll be honouring that promise with every icy dip. It’s going to be cold. It’s going to be uncomfortable. But nothing compared to the pain and fear faced by those living with cancer.
The daffodil is a symbol of hope – and hope is something we all need when cancer touches our lives. By fundraising for the Cancer Council, I’m helping fund vital research, prevention programs, and support services
I’d be so grateful if you could support me. Whether it’s a donation, a cheer from the shore, or even joining me for a dip – it all means so much.
Let’s turn the chill into change. Let’s make a difference, one freezing dip at a time.
With love and gratitude,
Kerri
