I’m fundraising for Daffodil Day, to support advancements in life-saving cancer research.
Ten years ago, I faced a breast cancer diagnosis and am thrilled to say that
I am now a survivor. Throughout my treatment, I held onto the hope that one day
I would be cancer-free, fuelled by the incredible advancements in treatments
available for women like me. The support I received from Cancer Council
Queensland was phenomenal, and I made a commitment to give back and support
their outstanding work.
In 2020 a close work colleague of mine, Carolyn Howard – affectionately
known as Howie – received a cancer diagnosis. Sadly, Howie’s journey did not
have the same outcome as mine, and she lost her battle on May 6, 2021.
Determined to generate some positive energy from such a tragic loss, I
discovered Daffodil Day. Its message of hope and fundraising deeply resonated
with me.
Since 2021, I have been participating in Daffodil Day, and this year marks
my fourth year. Alongside a wonderful group of friends, now known as the
Daffodil Darlings, we raised $68,000 last year. This year, we have set an
ambitious goal to raise $100,000.
Daffodil Day, led by Cancer Council, is a powerful symbol of hope and an
opportunity to raise vital funds for cancer research, prevention, and support
services. Every dollar raised through Daffodil Day helps fund life-saving
research, which has contributed to a 24% increase in cancer survival rates over
the past 30 years. Your support means we can continue to provide hope and
assistance to those affected by cancer.
Every Dollar donated makes a difference, thank you for your support.
With your help, we're getting closer to a cancer free future
