My First Daffodil Day Dip at Blowhole Rock Pool
On the 1st of August, I decided to make the most of the train-free day by taking part in my very first Daffodil Day Dip and doing it somewhere far. I chose a location I hadn’t explored before: Kiama Blowhole / Ocean Pool seemed like a nice spot I thought. Nestled along the coast and kissed by the cold waves, it was the perfect place to dive into something meaningful and new.
As a public health practitioner, I am deeply passionate about cancer research and prevention. Daffodil Day, a symbol of hope and resilience for those affected by cancer, holds special significance for me. I would like to personally advocate for cancer awareness by participating in a community-driven, a bit crazy but symbolic event :) all for a worthy cause.
The water was cold, sharp against the skin, but invigorating. In that brief moment of shock and surrender to the elements, I felt a deep connection to the strength and courage of those fighting cancer. This simple act was more than a personal challenge; it was a statement of solidarity and a reminder of why I do the work I do.
I left Blowhole Rock Pool refreshed, inspired, and more committed than ever to advancing cancer awareness in my professional and personal life. I know this is one of the first of the many fights and wins against cancer.
